Our
Dream Statement
is a more detailed picture of the future that
captures our imagination.
What if our
church could gather 500-600 people from across
North County who are excited about journeying
together toward becoming passionate followers of
Jesus Christ? What if they are excited about
multiplying Christ followers, kingdom leaders
and daughter churches? What if we became a
group of people who were committed about loving
people as Jesus did? What if we could be a
place where hurting people could feel safe and
find hope and acceptance?
What if every
weekend service was filled with laughter and
buzzing with excitement? What if leaders
greeted guests, exchanged names, and listened
for unrecognized needs. What if people hugged
and put their arms around each other and took
initiative to meet hidden hurts? What if we are
a church that did not hesitant to explore
creative, new ministries that would connect us
to students in schools, AIDS patients in
neighborhoods and leaders in our community? What
if we offered worship services that focused on
reaching out to guests and pre-Christians who
may have given up on church but were coming to
us because they hadn’t yet given up on God?
What if the
messages of music and preaching in worship would
begin with people’s needs and then led them into
a life-changing relationship with God? What if
the whole trajectory of our lives were changed?
What if we started peppering our conversations
with words and phrases that connected in a fresh
way with people? What if new stories were told
every week about how God was rewriting the story
of people’s lives? What if people were reporting
that they are being changed and taking steps to
become whole hearted followers of Christ? What
if we had baptism events where 20-30 people were
publicly declaring their faith, joining ministry
teams and using their talents in ministry? What
if people were going on short term mission
trips, bringing family members to special
events, work associates to bible studies and
neighborhood friends to weekend services? What
if we were constantly trying creative new
outreach ministries to the community like fixing
cars for single parent moms and sponsoring free
medical seminars?
In short, what if
we became a 21st century version of the
Jerusalem church described in Acts 2:42-47 and
the Antioch church in Acts 13:1-2? That would
be the best and we can’t wait to live into that
future!
